Danielle Chen is the owner of The Art of Therapy, LLC. She holds a Ph.D. in Art Therapy Theory and Practice and an M.S. in Art Therapy, both from Florida State University. Additionally, she has an M.S. in Family Therapy from Mercer University and a B.S. in Psychology with a concentration in Studio Art from Georgia State University.
Danielle is a Registered Art Therapist (ATR), a Registered Play Therapist (RPT), and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). She is also a Clinical Fellow of the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and an AAMFT Approved Supervisor in Training.
Her research delves into the intersections of multiracial and multicultural identities, focusing on how art therapy and systemic theories can help individuals express complex identities. Danielle is particularly passionate about incorporating cultural humility into social justice practices and how therapists can use response art to explore their self-of-therapist.
She has published several works, including "Untangling the Invisible Intersections of an Art Therapy Doctoral Candidate’s Mixed Identities" (2023) and "Response Art to Develop a Social Justice Stance for Art Therapists" (2022) in the Art Therapy Journal. Danielle is a member of the Association for Play Therapy (APT), the American Art Therapy Association (AATA), and the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT).
