Holly Farris

MSW Graduate Student

DEIE Committee

Holly Farris is a Clinical MSW student at the University of Georgia, School of Social Work. She chose the University of Georgia because of the school’s commitment to PrOSEAD and to the empowerment of marginalized communities in the southern United States. During the past year, Holly has led an initiative to center Queer+ representation and inclusion in Relationship and Marriage Education (RME) workshops across the state, with her generalist practicum site, Project FREE (Fostering Relationships and Economic Enrichment). She was recently awarded the honor of completing her degree as a Cynthia B. Parker Scholar.

Holly will complete her clinical practicum experience at Getting Real Counseling Center, a mental health counseling center that provides individual and relational counseling services to the LGBTQ+ community of Athens, Georgia. Here she will provide direct counseling services to clients at the individual and group level. She looks forward to leading a monthly group session centering the disordered eating and body image recovery of adult clients. Graduating in the spring of 2025 with her master’s in social work, Holly will also acquire a Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy. She plans to pursue licensure as a Clinical Social Worker in the state of Georgia and hopes to continue specializing in work with diverse families of the south.
