Julia Pavon Rojas
Mental Health Counselor
To provide culturally competent, bilingual mental health counseling, both individual and group, to Latino families and individuals. Diversity is important to me because Spanish speaking and immigrant communities in Georgia are underserved in mental health spaces, and experience many barriers to accessing services, such as lack of certified providers who are able to provide services in Spanish, inability to afford mental health services due to lack of health insurance due to documentation status, and many other barriers to care. It is important that bilingual, immigrant, and minority counselors are present within this field to address this huge gap in care that our communities across Georgia are currently experiencing. Additionally, minority counselors bring expertise and cultural competency into mental health spaces that are oftentimes lacking, further working to close this gap in competent services.
