We are building a trauma-informed workforce and helping solve the mental health workforce shortage in Georgia.
A trauma-informed approach to care acknowledges that we need to have a full understanding of a person's life to provide the best services with a healing orientation. Over 50 million Americans are experiencing a mental illness. Yet, there is only one mental health provider for every 350 individuals in the U.S. This shortage of providers has contributed to nearly 55 percent of adults with mental illness receiving no treatment. With the help of our partners, we're working to solve the mental health shortage in Georgia.
Georgia ranks #47 in the nation for mental health access. We’re working to change that.
58%
of Georgia adults with any mental illness do not receive treatment.
67%
of Georgia youth with major depression do not receive treatment.
13%
of Georgia youth with private insurance do not receive coverage for mental health.
